The recent years have been a period of constant surprises in terms of major sports competitions. After decades in which the hosting of the World Championship was disputes among Western European countries and the two Americas, along came South Korea, then South Africa. And now it seems that there is a new premiere at the horizon, As Qatar has announced its candidature for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The tiny Quarter is amongst the richest states in the Arabian Peninsula. The competition is fierce, it’s true, but quarter has announced that it is willing to invest no less then 4 billion dollars in building new, state-of-the art stadiums. Another thing that could also work in the advantage of Qatar is its touristic potential, the fact that there are no conflicts in this country and also the fact that it could offer a totally different experience. One thing for sure is that the construction of these brand new stadiums is represents only a small part of a more ambitious plan, which aims to transform Qatar in the next sports capital of the world.
